House Train Your Dog to Go On Command
I remember reading Barbara Woodhouse’s No Bad Dogs: The Woodhouse Way. I think she had a TV show too. This woman had a knack with dogs. She had a British accent and would say "Good Doggie" in such a unique way I can still hear it today in my head. She taught me to get my dog at the time "Wardie" to go pee and poop on command. You can house train your dog to go in a specific spot on command.
This is how I did it. When I took Wardie out to go right before or exactly when he would eliminate I’d say "hurry up". So eventually hurry up became a command for him to poop. I also made him go in the alley behind our house in a certain spot so he would always go in the same spot.
This was great because I didn’t have a bunch off burnt out spots and piles of dog poop on my lawn. That dog was so cooperative. I started him very young and just kept repeating the words as he would go. It’s amazing what consistency will do for a training program.
If you choose to use this technique make sure to pick a phrase that you won’t mind saying around friends or in public. also, make sure it’s something you wouldn’t say otherwise or your dog may do something right at the wrong time.
